About Us: BedBugMonitor.com
Welcome to BedBugMonitor.com, a trading name of Bed Bugs Limited—the UK’s leading company dedicated to bed bug research, eradication, and innovative detection.
Our Scientific Roots
Bed Bugs Limited was founded in 2005 by David Cain.
With a strong scientific background and professional training, David was increasingly concerned about the spread of bed bugs. He was surprised to find that the “scientific” response to the problem at the time was ‘not a lot’ of effective, evidence-based solutions.
From the outset, we resolved to do things differently. Our mission has been to place a firm emphasis on research and investigation to develop an eradication process that actually works.
A few years down the road, our success rate for treating infestations was (and remains) far higher than general pest controllers. The results speak for themselves, confirming that we are on the right track and can rightfully claim to be the UK’s leading company when it comes to bed bugs.
How It Works
Using Bed Bug Behavior Against Them
The monitor works by becoming the perfect home for any bed bugs already in the room. In much the same way that birds occupy a bird box, bed bugs are induced to investigate and ultimately move into this preferred, perfect harbourage you have provided for them.
Thanks to the patented design features and principles, when bed bugs use this harbourage, they behave in unique ways that facilitate easy detection and removal:
Faecal Traces
They are induced to leave faecal traces on the detection skirt, providing the easiest way to confirm their presence.
Egg Laying
The perfect harbourage is a preferred place for female bed bugs to lay their eggs, which can then be easily removed.
Shed Skins
If they need to shed their skin (moult), they leave the shed skin in plain view on the detection skirt—another simple, definitive sign of activity.
These behavioural patterns are based on the basic rules of bed bugs. They cannot avoid doing this, nor can they become “wise to” or resistant to these natural instincts.
Key Advantages
- Increased Efficiency: Bed bug faecal trace is known to signal other bed bugs that this is a safe location. The monitor actually increases in efficiency with each occupant.
- Stable Monitoring: Bed bugs return to the same harbourage throughout their development as long as they remain happy there. This is superior to glue-based systems which often cause nymphs to be dispersed.
